I enjoy writing.
I have been a writer in my professional life for 20 years (in public relations). In this capacity, I have written on behalf of my clients. I am still writing for clients. I do it because it is my job (which I do, in fact, enjoy), and I get paid to do it.
When I turned 40-years-old, I decided it was time to write for me and launched Happily Ever Laughter Blog. I began to write what and when I wanted, and I loved doing it. I still do. It is a labor of love that does not pay the bills, so I do not get to write as often as I would like, but when I do it’s because I believe I have something of value to share. I do not have a set schedule – sometimes I post once a week; sometimes once a month – but when I do post, it is sure to share a message.
When it was time to design an actual website, I had a vision but no idea what to do with it. I hired someone to create my pretty little space on the Internet. And it was great. But, as I learned more in the blogging world about what worked and what didn’t, I decided it was time to make some adjustments to my site. Since I still had no idea what I was doing on the “techy” side, I found someone else who did.
That someone is Jen Kehl of Beyond Blog Design (www.beyondblogdesign.com). Hey Jen, in the words of Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber, “I like you. I like you a lot.” I really can’t say enough about her – she was patient (sorry about all the amateur questions, Jen!), smart (she knows all things techy), and is a cool gal in general. So if you are thinking of starting a blog or just need things tweaked on your current site, contact her. Just do it.
OK, so what’s changed? The first thing, I took the wine glass out of my logo. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not because I stopped drinking wine, but there is a good reason – read about it here. Next, it’s a cleaner format – more reader-friendly. And since I started this whole blogging thing, my writing has actually been featured in two books and on several other websites so if you look to the right, you can see some of the places I have written. Hopefully, I will keep adding to it.
Beyond that, it still me moseying along while writing some stuff I think my readers will relate to and enjoy. Oh, and I’m still smiling – hope to share some smiles with you, too!
